WIGE Media AG introduces a revolution in the micro-camera technology area: the Cunima MCU[1]. The TV-service provider and the internationally renowned 'Fraunhofer-Institut' for integrated circuits combined their know-how for the development of a camera featuring the smallest dimensions (33.5mm x 38mm x 111.5 mm, weight 182g,) while meeting the highest quality requirements at the same time: thanks to the use of latest CMOS chip technology, the multi-format midget is the only mini system worldwide that has got what it takes to deliver both native HD and SD signals, the latter also in the SD 16:9 format. The Cunima MCU[1] was designed as true all-rounder and furthermore, it captivates with its ultra-compact design as it redundantises an external camera control unit. The finished picture signal is provided by the camera itself. "With Cunima MCU[1], we corroborate our claim to technology leadership," says Stefan Hoff, WIGE Board member responsible for the operational business. "On the one hand, this camera offers us even more creative camera operation opportunities when it comes to our own productions and on the other, we also offer it to other companies for sale." All the vital details, illustrations, distribution contacts and technical specifications of the new mini HD camera can be found in the World Wide Web at www.cunima.tv.

A maximum power consumption of just 3W is enough for the new lightweight camera to delight its operators with numerous features: AGC (Automatic Gain Control), electronic shutter, easily replaceable glass filters right in the c-mount, programmable remote control RS-422 and far more: at the end of the day, the fantasy of the creative staff represents the only factor limiting the operation opportunities; particularly as the modular design allows for the use of a multitude of accessory systems. No doubt: the Cunima MCU[1] makes the realisation of many settings clearly easier while others wouldn’t even be possible, without it. In the German touring car series DTM, for instance, the camera already provides spectacular onboard pictures, in combination with the WIGE-HD radio transmission system. In the sports area, the use as goal-cam, ski-jump chip-cam mounted in the jump-off platforms or as pole-cam represents just some of its typical usage sites. At the same time, the Cunima MCU[1] is just as suitable for fixed camera positions on concert stages. Thanks to its compact dimensions, the camera also provides ideal preconditions for the use in stereoscopic video recordings.
